18e session du Comité intergouvernemental de sauvegarde du patrimoine culturel immatériel de l’UNESCO

La dix-huitième session du Comité intergouvernemental de sauvegarde du patrimoine culturel immatériel se tient à Kasane, République du Botswana, du lundi 4 au samedi 9 décembre 2023. Une cérémonie d’ouverture s’est tenue le dimanche 3 décembre 2023 avec des musiciens et danseurs en lien avec des éléments constitutifs du patrimoine vivant local.

M. Antoine Gauthier y participe au nom du Conseil québécois du patrimoine vivant (CQPV), accrédité dans le cadre de la Convention de l’UNESCO de 2003. À ce titre, il a été proposé par la délégation permanente du Canada auprès de l’UNESCO en vue de l’élection d’une ONG du groupe 1 au sein de l’Organe d’évaluation chargé d’évaluer les demandes associées aux listes de la Convention. M. Gauthier agit également comme membre actif de l’initiative #HeritageAlive, à l’origine du lancement d’un livre bilingue sur le conte, en collaboration avec UNESCO-ICHCAP (Asie & Pacifique). Il participe à divers groupes de travail et activités, y compris celles du Forum des ONG du PCI, qu’il a co-fondé il y a quelques années. Le directeur du CQPV est également facilitateur officiel pour la Convention.

Plus tôt cette année, le Rassemblement patrimoine vivant 2023, organisé à Québec par le CQPV, s’est inscrit dans le cadre des activités entourant le 20e anniversaire de la Convention, avec le soutien du ministère de la Culture du Québec et de la Commission canadienne pour l’UNESCO.

The eighteenth session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage is being held in Kasane, Republic of Botswana, from Monday 4 to Saturday 9 December 2023. An opening ceremony was held on Sunday December 3, 2023 with musicians and dancers linked to elements constituting local living heritage.

Mr. Antoine Gauthier is participating on behalf of the Conseil québécois du patrimoine vivant (CQPV), accredited under the 2003 UNESCO Convention. As such, he was proposed by the permanent delegation of Canada to the UNESCO with a view to the election of an NGO from group 1 within the Evaluation Body responsible for evaluating the requests associated with the lists of the Convention. Mr. Gauthier also acts as an active member of the #HeritageAlive initiative, behind the launch of a bilingual book on storytelling, in collaboration with UNESCO-ICHCAP (Asia & Pacific). He participates in various working groups and activities, including those of the ICH NGO Forum, which he co-founded a few years ago. The director of the CQPV is also an official facilitator for the Convention.

Earlier this year, the 2023 Living Heritage Gathering, organized in Quebec by the CQPV, was part of the activities surrounding the 20th anniversary of the Convention, with the support of the Quebec Ministry of Culture and the Canadian Commission for UNESCO.
